In order to better prepare marginalized and underrepresented high school and college students for jobs in AI and ML, AWS has created the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) Scholarship program in partnership with Udacity.
2,500 scholarships are given out annually to students who want to study and use machine learning techniques. By choosing to participate in the scholarship program on Amazon DeepRacer Student, recipients will get Udacity Nanodegree scholarships, mentorship, and career development possibilities.
For students over the age of 16 enrolled in high schools and colleges throughout the world, Amazon DeepRacer Student is a free service. Anyone in high school or college who self-identifies as underserved or underrepresented in technology and who is above 16 may apply (subject to terms and conditions on Udacity).
For 20 hours of AI & ML content, candidates can study the basics of reinforcement learning. Use your knowledge by training models for 10 hours per month with 5 GB of storage to compete in the Amazon DeepRacer Student League (a global autonomous racing competition exclusively for students).
Scholarships worth $4,000 USD will be awarded to 2,000 students each year for the Udacity AI Programming with Python Nanodegree program. This four-month collaborative online course teaches machine learning basics while providing technical help during weekly group meetings.
500 of the best performing students in the first Udacity Nanodegree program can earn a second, more advanced Udacity Nanodegree in deep learning and ML engineering topics.
During monthly “Ask Me Anything” seminars with leading industry professionals, all program participants will receive individualized mentoring and career counseling.
One-on-one mentoring from an AWS employee will be provided to participants in the advanced program for a full year. This mentor will offer advice on coursework and how to get ready for a career in technology.
Participate in the virtual league on DeepRacer Student from March 1 to September 30. You’ll be able to see how you compare to rivals in your nation, region, and the entire world once a month. Each month, work your way up the leaderboard for a chance to win prizes.
To compete on a global platform and win big for your country, enter the Student World Championship in October.
The top 42 contestants will compete for $21,000 in tuition-based prizes from competitors across the world.

Two requirements must be met in order to prequalify for the scholarship: review courses and pass exams. You must achieve 80% or above on all tests on the Amazon DeepRacer Student learning modules to qualify. The various chapters in the Learn area of the Amazon DeepRacer Student navigation pane serve as the basis for each evaluation.
Get a required lap time. In the Amazon DeepRacer Student League, a new scoreboard with a fresh course layout is released every month between March and September. You must finish a time trial lap on any one leaderboard in under three minutes to be eligible for the scholarship.
