The Role:
In this position as a farm hand, you will be working under the guidance of the Operations Manager and 2IC. Your role will involve assisting in the farm’s daily operations, and you will need to possess a strong passion and enthusiasm for the industry. In return for your dedication, you will receive ongoing training, support, and the opportunity to learn from a dynamic and experienced team.
Your responsibilities will include operating machinery, participating in livestock husbandry, and assisting with general farm maintenance, such as fencing and infrastructure repairs. You will be involved in all aspects of the farm’s operations and work closely with management.
To be successful in this role, you must have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn and grow within the company. Your curious nature and ability to bring forward innovative ideas will be highly valued.
Your duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Feeding livestock (grain, hay or silage)
- All aspects of animal husbandry
- Fencing repairs and maintenance
- Water repairs/maintenance – cleaning troughs, fixing broken pipes, pumps, floats, spouts on buildings etc.
- Repairs and maintenance of buildings
- Seasonal work with hay-making and carting
- Intensive livestock operation & young, energetic team

The Property & Employer:
Our clients are a long-standing family-owned and operated business running a commercial cattle and sheep business operating across six properties in South Australia and Victoria. Operating as a rotational grazing enterprise and using low-stress livestock practices, the property covers 3200HA, running 15,000 composite breeding ewes and lambs and 600 Angus breeders.
With the excellent infrastructure in place to ensure day-to-day management is as easy as possible, the property boasts good fencing, a laneway system throughout the property, a reticulated pipeline system delivering stock water to troughs, with multiple sets of strategically placed yards along with a built-in containment feedlot.

The Ideal Candidate:
To be considered for this role, you will have the following skills and experience:
- 2-3 years experience with sheep and cattle operations, including pasture management
- Ability to work in a team environment
- A passion for livestock, including low-stress handling techniques
- High regard for quality and pride in one’s work
- Experience in fencing and maintenance
- A willingness to engage with farm management technology, including Agriwebb
- Trained working dogs
