The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) aims to strategically shape development cooperation with Asian partner countries – including Cambodia, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia. As part of this effort, the BMZ has published the “German Development Policy with Asia” strategy, which sets out the direction of German development policy in the region. The strategy is based on five guiding principles:
1) Strengthening gender equality,
2) Climate-friendly development,
3) Vocational training in green, future-oriented industries,
4) Strengthening social security systems, and
5) Preserving biodiversity and ecosystems. The aim of the project is to support the BMZ in designing and communicating its Asia strategy, as well as the relevance and effectiveness of German development policy engagement with Asia.
The focus is on advising on the strategic positioning of the future of development policy with Asia. The project provides a multifaceted insight into Germany’s development policy engagement in Asia and offers diverse opportunities to get to know GIZ from different perspectives.
