Duties & Responsibilities | Best Practice and Knowledge Management • Initiate continuous improvement initiatives, lead cost saving opportunities and keep abreast of new developments • Liaise with other departments towards evaluating new technologies and improve process capabilities, product quality and throughput requirements Business Performance and Operations • Optimise product mix to maximise value in sales • Achieve production targets on end to end process and ensure compliance to contractual quality specifications • Ensure optimal use of available resources, both people and equipment • Execute Business Improvements (BI) processes to ensure optimum value release from operations • Manage root cause failure analysis and improvement process for substandard operating conditions • Interact with Marketing, Planning and Optimisation to adjust process execution Compliance, Governance and Assurance • Adhere to corporate governance principles and policies • Manage risk and consequences of non-compliance • Comply with environmental legislation • Comply with Rail Safety Regulator (RSR) Act (where appointed) • Comply to Road Transport Management System (RTMS) Standards (where applicable) • Ensure compliance to Contractor management procedures Customer and Client Relationship Management • Manage day-to-day external customer relationships with operational clients • Plan production and sales with relevant marketing manager to satisfy client requirements • Investigate and resolve all quality complaints relevant to production of product sold • Liaise with internal and external customers and relevant statutory bodies • Ensure the Company’s image is maintained and promoted • Provide a professional/specialist advisory support service on production/product quality across different levels in organisation Effective People Management • Motivate, capacitate and lead team by sound performance management and transformational leadership practices • Foster an environment to motivate people and seek out better ways of operating • Manage High Performance Culture and implement strategy • Improve manpower productivity • Maintain and develop skills and talent to keep abreast with latest production and production management concepts • Ensure effective industrial relations management • Plan and execute sectional transformation plan aligned with Business Unit (BU) targets Financial Management • Prepare and control sectional annual operations cost budget and forecast • Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities and materials • Manage spending against budget in relation to changes in production volume Functional Excellence • Adhere to functional policies, standards, guidelines, procedures, end- to-end processes, tools, templates etc. • Assist in standardising, simplifying and speeding-up functional processes, eliminating duplication/bureaucracy • Apply functional best practices, promote sharing of best practices and knowledge Logistics Management • Manage product logistics through own organisation, contractors and third party service providers (as applicable) • Ensure contract specifications are within the budget and in accordance with corporate governance • Negotiate and manage contracts to ensure effective product storage and shipment Safe and Healthy Work Environment • Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and practices • Ensuring compliance with all applicable Safety Health Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures in line with set standards • Encourage a culture that focuses on SHE in all operations Behavioural Alignment Demonstrates the following: • Creativity, collaboration, sociable and awareness to the ecosystem • Stewardship, accountability, ability to develop trust, safety conscious and ethical • Ability to respond quickly to business needs/agility, flexibility, continuous learning, innovation and proven ability to experiment on creative business solutions • Ability to be inclusive, eagerness for multiple skills, embraces multiple cultures, accepts different approaches and be human-centric/empathetic • Results oriented, quality driven, excellence, entrepreneurial abilities, efficient and effective The appointment will be made in accordance with Exxaro’s Employment Equity policy.
