The Sydney Mechanics Institute was founded in 1843, while the Sydney Technical College was founded in 1878. The University was established in Sydney by an Act of the New South Wales Parliament in 1949, although its character and idea may be traced back to that time.

A variety of scholarships and awards are available from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Scholarships to help international undergraduate and postgraduate coursework students who are starting full-time studies at UNSW. Look for a scholarship that honors your drive and provides for your future. Whether you’re an international or domestic student, there’s a good chance we have a scholarship that will enable you to realize your full potential.

Some scholarships will pay your tuition in full or in part, while others may just give you a stipend to help with living expenses while you’re a student. The Graduate Research School can be contacted by students who want to pursue postgraduate research studies.
