More than 800 million people worldwide still suffer from hunger, and over a billion are malnourished. With the special initiative “Transformation of Agricultural and Food Systems (SI AGER),” the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is tackling one of humanity’s greatest challenges. The core of the initiative is the “Green Innovation Centers in the Agriculture and Food Sector (GIAE)” project, which is currently being implemented in five African countries and India.

This global project promotes innovations along the entire value chain, from field to fork. This includes, among other things, improved seeds, good agricultural practices, and the establishment of producer cooperatives.
