JRS the Jesuit Refugee Service is an international Catholic organization founded in 1980. It is present in approximately fifty countries. JRS’s mission is to accompany, serve, and defend the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced persons. JRS collaborates with other organizations to provide quality services to forcibly displaced persons. JRS has been present in Chad since 2006.
JRS under the supervision of the National Program Coordinator, the incumbent will provide technical expertise in areas related to child and preschool protection, mental health, psychosocial support and gender-based violence (GBV). He or she will be responsible for strengthening the technical skills of local teams and stakeholders in these areas.
JRS National Protection Coordinator will also be responsible for managing their team’s human resources and will ensure reporting as well as administrative and budgetary management related to the intervention components. They will have to identify factors increasing the risks and vulnerabilities of beneficiaries and analyze community mechanisms in order to identify the strengths to be supported and harmful practices.

Finally, he will have to develop or support the implementation of activities in line with the JRS and donor strategy for early childhood protection, community protection, preschool centers, mental health, psychosocial support and GBV. 2. Main responsibilities of the position
- Activity planning: Plan and prepare, with the teams on the ground, the activities to be carried out for the assistance project in education, protection, preschool, MHPSS and GBV.
- Project Implementation: Define and harmonize the criteria to be applied for JRS-Chad. Provide technical support and supervision in the implementation of activities. Build the capacity of JRS staff. Conduct field visits to assess progress and provide technical support. Develop communication materials for advocacy and fundraising support.
- Coordination: Participate in coordination meetings with partners and relevant Ministries. Support field teams in coordinating with decentralized State services.
- Reporting: Write and share monthly activity reports. Support the National Program Coordinator in the preparation of reports related to protection, preschool, MHPSS and GBV issues.
- Evaluation: Participate in the identification of needs and new opportunities. Propose or develop frameworks for the evaluation of project impact indicators.
3. Profile sought
Training and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in international human rights, law, sociology, social work, political science or other relevant field.
- At least 4 years of experience in humanitarian protection, advocacy and refugee law, including at least 2 years in a specific protection position.
- Proven experience in technical consulting, program support and staff development/training.
Essential skills:
- Knowledge of child protection programs.
- Ability to establish good working relationships in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment.
- Good understanding of gender dynamics in child protection.
- Ability to analyze and think strategically.
- Excellent ability to work under pressure and in a team.
LANGUAGES :
- Fluency in French (reading, writing and speaking) and good level in English.
- Knowledge of Arabic or a local language is an asset.
Qualities:
- Adherence to JRS values, code of conduct and Internal Regulations.
- Leadership, sense of discretion and responsibility.
