UN United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of efforts to reduce disasters and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in both developed and less developed countries. Led by the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction (SRSG/ASG), UNDRR has over 150 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and in regional offices.
UN, UNDRR guides, monitors, analyses, and reports on progress in the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015- 2030. It supports regional and national implementation of the Framework and catalyzes action and increases global awareness to reduce disaster risk working with
UN Member States and a broad range of partners and stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, parliamentarians and the science and technology community. This position is home-based, but the consultant would work for the UNDRR Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (ROECA) in Brussels, Belgium. The Programme Management Support for implementation of DRR and urban resilience in Central Asia reports to the Programme Management Officer for Country Support with overall supervision by the Chief and Deputy Chief of the Regional Office.

A master’s degree or equivalent degree in disaster risk management, political science, public administration, management, economics or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

A minimum of five years of working experience in project or programme management, disaster risk reduction related fields in Central Asia is required. Knowledge and understanding of urban resilience and Making Cities Resilient 2030 (MCR2030) activities is desirable. Experience advocating with governments, local authorities and other stakeholders on critical issues is desirable. Experience in the UN system or another similar international organization in the field of disaster risk reduction is desirable.
English and French are the two working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consultancy, fluency in English and Russian is required. Knowledge of Kazakh is desirable.

The intern’s primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
* Assisting with the creation, editing, and production of multimedia content (videos, podcasts, infographics, social media posts) for UNCTAD’s platforms.
* Supporting live coverage of events and conferences through photography, videography, and audio recording.
* Assisting in editing and post-production of multimedia content using Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Canva.
* Contributing to social media by creating engaging content and supporting digital campaigns. * Collaborating with colleagues to ensure accurate and timely multimedia outputs.
* Assisting with archiving multimedia assets and maintaining a multimedia library.
* Participating in team meetings and brainstorming sessions for content ideas.
* Other related duties as required. More generally, interns shall:
1. Observe all applicable rules, regulations, instructions, procedures and directives of the Organization notwithstanding their status as described in section 5 of the UN Internship Programme Administrative Instructions ST/AI/2020/1. 2. Provide the receiving departments/offices with a copy of all materials prepared by them during the internship.
