JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Research, Campaigns and Communication Assistant (RCCA) to support Amnesty International’s West and Central Africa Regional Office.

In this vital role, you will contribute to human rights research, campaigning, communications, and growth strategies by monitoring developments, managing information and communication systems, and coordinating key activities within the team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with research, campaigning, communication, and growth activities by gathering and managing human rights-related information.
  • Monitor and maintain an overview of political and human rights developments in West and Central Africa.
  • Support the production and distribution of reports, campaign materials, and internal documents.
  • Act as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders, handling inquiries and information requests.
  • Provide logistical support for field research, missions, and campaign activities, including budget preparation and travel coordination.
  • Contribute to crisis response efforts and emergency work.
  • Develop and manage administrative and communication systems to support the team’s work.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • General knowledge of human rights and political developments in West and Central Africa.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and French (Spanish is a plus).
  • Strong drafting, proofreading, and editing skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to process and analyse human rights-related information.
  • Experience in managing office systems and information databases.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented environment, including coordinating schedules and supervising volunteers.
  • Understanding of equality, diversity, and gender issues, with a commitment to applying these principles.
