ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership with policy-oriented research and analysis, normative support and technical assistance and capacity building, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.
UN Internship is located with the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT), Department of Management (DM). The internship is UNPAID and full-time. The minimum duration of an internship is two months and can be extended up to a total period of six months. Interns work five days per week (37.5 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the division or office to which they are assigned.

UN Responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
– Assist in creating and editing videos.
– Assist with graphic design, photography and photo editing.
– Research, compile, draft and edit basic information for use in the preparation and production of media material.
– Assist in drafting and preparing background documents, reports, talking points, articles, presentations etc.
– Assist with organizing events, website management and mailing public information materials. – Assist in maintaining databases.
– Perform other duties as necessary.

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. A good knowledge of video editing software such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.) is required.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

Key Qualifications:
• Detail-oriented in processing PoCs at the gate.
• Basic experience within UNHCR, preferable in handling applicants at the gate and reception, to support colleagues effectively.
• Strong understanding of UNHCR’s framework and the consequences of security breaches
• Fluent in Arabic and English.
• Awareness in using UNHCR’s systems and tools is preferred .
