AIRD began in the year 1991, the humble and simple inception of AIRD, by a group of people visioning for a just society in the foundational milestone for the continuous momentum of impacts on the diversified sectors of community. 

AIRD responds to the HIV/AIDS situation since 2001, AIRD creates enabling environment for people living with HIV and their households and helping people to prevent HIV transmission. The program focused on community-based HIV prevention, care and supports to people living with HIV and their households and advocacy initiatives to uphold the rights of them.

AIRD helps many poor and vulnerable families are grappling with critical challenges due to a lack of access and opportunities for livelihood income generation. Access to livelihood income generation for rural women significantly contributes to the well-being of their families and the development of the community. Such large-scale migration leads to hazardous living conditions and socio-cultural, as well as political, issues. AIRD’s engagement in livelihood promotion with the rural poor since 2020 is another significant step in the lifeline of AIRD’s response.

Auto- Technician Duty Station: Uganda; Mbarara ASC Contract Type: Full time Reports to: Service Advisor Background and Context African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD) is a non-political, non-religious and a not-for-profit non-governmental organization. AIRD was established in 2006 with its Head Office in Kampala, Uganda. AIRD, being an active implementing partner with UNHCR, is currently managing operations in Uganda, Burundi, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Niger, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Central Africa Republic (CAR) and Cameroon. Our partnership with UNHCR focuses on refugee and IDP settlements, primarily through logistics, construction and infrastructure interventions.

Formula 21 Pitstop SMC Limited, a subsidiary and affiliate of African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD), operates as an authorized service center for CFAO Mobility Limited. Established to provide repair and maintenance services for on-warranty Toyota and other branded vehicles in the Mbarara region, the center is committed to delivering high-quality automotive support. To ensure the continued efficiency and excellence of the service center, applications are now invited from competent and qualified Ugandan professionals for the position of Auto-Technician.

 Position Summary The Auto-Technician will be responsible for the accurate diagnosis and efficient repair of customer vehicles, ensuring issues are resolved correctly on the first attempt. By delivering high-quality technical services, the role directly supports operational efficiency, drives service throughput and revenue growth, and upholds exceptional customer satisfaction standards.

• Accurately identify faulty parts and ensure proper replacement and fitment. 2. Maintenance and Inspections

• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as fluid replacement, lubrication, and system checks to promote vehicle performance and longevity.

• Conduct thorough pre-delivery inspections on all new vehicles before delivery to customers. 3. Quality and Safety Compliance

• Uphold Toyota service standards and ensure careful handling of customer vehicles, tools, and equipment to prevent damage or loss.

• Adhere strictly to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment in line with the company’s 5S standards. 4. Communication and Reporting

• Prepare and submit accurate defect reports to the supervisor in a timely manner.

• Communicate vehicle issues clearly and promptly, including follow-ups on repeat jobs to ensure complete resolution.
