GIZ The “Anti-Corruption and Integrity” sector project advises the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on anti-corruption and integrity as areas of activity for German official development cooperation (DC).
GIZ sector project aims to strengthen the BMZ’s capacities in the field of anti-corruption and to support the systematic integration of anti-corruption and integrity into German official development cooperation. To this end, the project supports the implementation of the anti-corruption quality feature, develops and tests advisory approaches for projects abroad, advises on the design of processes and procedures, provides training, develops knowledge, and communicates this knowledge at the national and international levels. The project works on behalf of the BMZ in international networks and on international political processes.

• Support with legal questions on anti-corruption in development cooperation, including civil society, investigative journalism, information and communication technologies, sustainable economic development, environmental issues (climate protection, biodiversity), land governance, gender and other key issues of the client
• Research on national and international platforms and political processes (G20, G7, OECD, African Union, UNCAC, IACC, BMZ 2030, etc.) and relevant fields of action of the German Federal Government, including against the background of the Africa orientation of German development policy
• Preparation of documents, statements, commentaries, presentations and working materials for the Governance Division of the BMZ
• Analysis of current studies and publications on international law
• Support for the mainstreaming and knowledge management of anti-corruption in GIZ and the implementing organizations

• First State Examination in Law
• Fluent in written and spoken English; additional foreign languages are an advantage
• Interest in and previous legal knowledge in the field of “anti-corruption and integrity,” ideally demonstrated through initial work experience, research, or a specific area of study. Previous working knowledge and specialist knowledge of governance issues are an advantage.
• Applicants should demonstrate good, politically sensitive written and oral communication skills and the ability to present even complex issues clearly. Practical experience in developing countries is an advantage but not required.
• Good user skills in the use of common IT applications (especially MS Office: Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

- Reviewing annual FASE procurement plans for alignment with activity plans.
- Advising on, reviewing and approving of the MEC’s procurement processes exceeding defined thresholds.
- Design, organize and oversee the implementation of ad-hoc reviews and checks of below-threshold procurement processes.
- Supporting MEC in updating procurement plans in the e-SISTAFE State Assets Module.
- Monitoring the implementation of fiduciary risk mitigation plans.
