The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect and assist refugees and other persons of concern (POC).

Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) sits within UNHCR’s Division of External Relations (DER) and is responsible for mobilizing resources from the private sector for refugees. UNHCR has developed a Private Sector Fundraising Strategy focusing on both Individual Giving (IG) and Private Sector Partnerships, identifying priority fundraising markets and regions.

Individual Giving (IG) is targeted at the general public to secure the support of individuals through regular, unrestricted donations, cash appeals and legacies. The aim is to generate both monthly and one-time donations from individuals using various channels and methods including direct mail, face-to-face fundraising, telemarketing, digital fundraising, DRTV and emergency fundraising, with focus on strong donor loyalty and lifetime value.

PSP MENA has established a successful Middle Donor Programme that is contributing to almost 60% of its annual IG income. The incumbent will be responsible for crafting annual plans and coordinating with Digital acquisition and Retention teams to maximize return on investment (ROI) from Middle Donors. Additionally, this role will oversee the identification of potential donors from the standard donors pool, ensuring a steady pipeline for upgrades to the Middle Donors tier.

This position will be expected to understand the donor database and PSP MENA donos’ behaviours, deploy various donor communication strategies, address and resolve donor inquiries, and proactively make tangible efforts to nurture and engage donors. The position´s primary focus will be on increasing income, donor satisfaction, engagement, and loyalty while fostering a deeper connection between donors and our organization’s cause.

2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment
     
Under the supervisor of the Senior PSP IG Associate, the Middle Donor Associate will be doing:

• Manage a portfolio of around 1,500 middle donors and manage regular communication in cooperation with the Major gifts program and the IG fundraising unit utilizing existing or newly created communications, appeals and retention activities.
• Manage budgets and report on spending and return on investment.
• Manage the development of all the creative, production and services related to the middle donor program.
• Schedule and set objectives for individual research, cultivation, solicitation, and contacts with high priority donors and prospects: average calls, e-mails and meetings as per the KPIs for each band of the middle donor program.
• Produce in conjunction with the PSP Officer the Middle Value Donor budget and provide financial forecasts.
• Contact prospects to determine capability and propensity for joining the middle donor’s program with an increased level of giving, while achieving individual and department financial goals.
• Solicit, negotiate agreement and close gifts with potential donors.
• Participate in setting and achieving annual campaign goals.
• Keep up to date with giving techniques and strategies to increase or maintain gifts from middle donors.
• Perform other related duties as required.

3. Qualifications and Experience

a. Education
• Completion of High School Diploma with 3 years relevant experience; or 2 years relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher in Account and Relationship Management, handling high profile accounts and/or individuals, Communication, Marketing, Business or other associated field, and/or equivalent work experience.
