JOB PURPOSE
The main responsibilities for the Staff Accountant include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, financial reporting, financial analysis, marketing PO, marketing analysis, AR management, refund, commissions and other special projects as assigned. Reporting to the Finance & Accounting Director, the Staff Accountant will be involved with the monthly and annual close, annual external audit, intercompany activities, account reconciliations, AR/AP and accrued expenses, AR management, marketing PO issuing, marketing analysis, refunds, payment of commissions, outstanding balance analysis as well as various ad-hoc requests as needed. The position will be process oriented and expected to identify and implement efficiencies and time saving ideas.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Accounting
• Processing day-to-day transactions including accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions, inventory and banking transactions;
• Reconciling, analysing and maintaining general ledger entries. Performing monthly closing activities by preparing, verifying, and entering accurate journal entries into the general ledge and submitting reports for Corporate;
• Filing monthly and quarterly sales tax returns;
• Supporting Finance Director in quarterly forecast, annual budget, monthly analysis of variances;
• Preparing dedicated report according to IFRS;
• Establishing and implementing basic accounting policies and procedures;
• Implementing and monitoring internal controls, such as maintaining organized filing systems;
• Performing ad hoc financial analyses of transactions related to revenues and expenses;
• Assisting with special projects or other assignments, as deemed necessary by the Finance Director.
Working Capital (AR/Commissions)
• Managing and supporting working capital operations to optimise cash process;
• Supervising the accuracy of the travel agent payment terms;
• Prepare daily and weekly outstanding balance report to share with other departments;
• Processing payment of refunds and commissions;
• Supporting Finance Director with Paymode-X platform;
Marketing
• Issuing Marketing PO;
• Working with Marketing team by ensuring timely issuing of Po;
• Prepare weekly and monthly report about Marketing budget usage;
• Working with Corporate ensuring invoices are paid and vendors are created into the system.
• Other special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)
• Fluency in English required with good oral and written communication skills. Working knowledge of French and/or Italian is considered a plus;
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from a four-year college or university required;
• 2+ years experience in accounting/finance department, preferrably with an international company;
• Team player, great attitude and collaborative;
• Good analytical and problem solving skills;
• Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities by demonstrating good planning skills;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook;
• IFRS and ASPE strong understanding and proven application;
• Respect of Ethics;
•Hands-on approach and detail oriented.

• Working hours’ time zone: EDT/EST.
