Job Description

Our client is an industry-leading poultry processing facility with sophisticated operations located in Sassafras, Tasmania. They are currently looking for 20 Meat Processors to join their facility, starting on or around 9th April 2024.

You will be paid under the Poultry Processing Award – level 1 above award rate at $29.75 per hour, and a seasonal contract an average minimum of 38 hours per week.

The Role

You are required to work in poultry facility where the smell of livestock is present. Not afraid of getting your hands dirty, you will be comfortable working with live and deceased birds; all animals must be handled gently and compassionately. You will be a team player who is physically fit and more than able to handle heavy lifting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rehanging birds
  • Manual Evisceration and/or checking on automated evisceration
  • Grading and packing whole birds or portions into packaging such as bags, bulk bags or tray packs
  • Creating value added products
  • Manual handling of product
  • Limited paperwork
  • Ensure that the work performed meets quality standards
  • Encourage positive actions and behaviours within your department
  • Meet benchmarks for tasks undertaken.
  • Contribute to a solutions focussed, positive culture within your department
  • Ensure you are complying with company standard operating procedures, policies and induction information.
  • Notifying Supervisor if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe performing work as requested.
  • Participate in the investigation of incidents occurring in your department where required.

  • Good communication skills

  • Must be compliant with safety standards in all aspects of work
